Green Products: Action Wipes

Got sweat, dirt, or grime? Whether your passion is yoga, Crossfit, or playing in the great outdoors (biking, hiking, camping, etc.), you’ll want to stash a pack of these in your bag or backpack.

Action Wipes ($24.99/pack of 30) are natural, oversized body wipes that are spot on for a quick cleanup, freshen up, or “shower” on the go. An avid cyclist, runner, and mom, founder Martha Van Inwegen was charged to develop a natural formula of plant-derived ingredients that would clean and refresh—in a way that was safe for people and the planet. She hit upon a roundup of essential oils that was naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal and Action Wipes were born.

As a result, these handy wipes contain no harsh chemicals, drying detergents, carcinogens, alcohol, or synthetic ingredients. In addition, Action Wipes’ formulation laboratory is ECOCERT, USDA National Organic Program (NOP) and Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) Certified. The company also says that its wipes are also easily repurposed.

I recently put these wipes to the test during a four-day camping and biking trip with my husband and four-year-old daughter. We used them to wipe up after unpacking camp, after long bike rides, and after a day of preschooler biking and snacking around the campground. I loved the ample size of this wipe; most other wipes require two or three wipes to get the job done that just one Action Wipe tackled. I also liked the fresh smell of the plant-based essential oil ingredients.

This wipe cleans effectively, freshening up both adults and kids after a long, active day. Action Wipes also worked surprisingly well to swab off stains from clothing. With a price that tips into the range of almost $1 per wipe, you’ll want to use these sparingly (and repurpose where you can). Still, we’ll be packing these wipes for all of our camping trips this summer.
