green products: method orla kiely dish soap
Dubbed “The Queen of Prints,” the Irish-born, London-based designer Orla Kiely is known for her graphic, colorful prints, which have appeared on everything from London buses and handbags to reusable water bottles and the tailgates and roofs of Citroën DS3 cars.
Her designs also grace the bottles of Method’s Limited Edition line of Orla Kiely cleaning supplies, including foaming and gel dish wash, dish soaps in a variety of scents, and spray cleaners.
We recently took Method’s Orla Kiely dish soap for a test run. Beyond it’s eye-grabbing good looks, which almost make dish washing a welcome chore, this dish soap delivered solid cleaning power. It’s definitely not quite as thick or bubbly as Method’s Dish Pump dish soap (read: we needed more to get the job done). But, the lightly scented Orla Kiely dish soap still cleaned effectively, banishing everything from grease to stuck-on mac ‘n’ cheese.
We loved Method’s simple and unique Dish Pump design, which pushes out an ample amount of soap without muss or fuss. It also, however, probably pumped out a bit more than we really needed onto our sponge. The pump is not notably easy to control so we usually got a full pump’s worth of soap for each cleaning.
Method graciously discloses all of this biodegradable dish soap’s ingredients, which include purified water, sodium lauryl sulfate, decyl + lauryl glucoside, lauramine oxide, alcohol (ethanol), glycerin (vegetable), citric acid, sodium chloride, sodium citrate, methylisothiazolinone / methylchoroisothiazolinone, polymeric colorant, and fragrance oil blend.
