Here, we check in with Verdana co-founder Sundar Subramaniam to learn more about his inspiring company and product line.
What was the inspiration behind the launch of Deepthi Organics?
I’ve been working with many different formulations involving natural/organic ingredients as a hobby for the past few years. This started as an attempt to find good natural products for plant disease and pest control in my yard—I’ve been an avid gardener for many years.
As I understood the benefits and capabilities of natural/organic ingredients and learned about the state of the art in this field, my attention switched to skin and hair products. I now believe strongly that it is possible to obtain luxurious performance out of natural and organic personal care products.
It’s really not necessary for these natural products to be inferior to the synthetic alternatives available in the market. In parallel, the general public awareness about the harm that could be caused by the synthetic products to ourselves as well as to the earth we all live in has increased significantly. I recognized an opportunity to make a difference. Hence, the launch of Deepthi Organics and Verdana.
Who are the people behind Deepthi Organics?
The Deepthi Organics products are available under the Verdana brand. “Verdana” comes from “verde,” which means “Green” in Latin. My wife Mani and myself are the driving force behind this with active support from our enthusiastic team.
Why do you use natural and organic ingredients?
The synthetic products available in the market today are full of harmful chemicals. Some examples are petroleum derivatives like Mineral oil, Paraffin, Sulfates, Phosphates, Pthalates, Triethanolamine, synthetic dyes, synthetic fragrances, etc. Not only are they harmful to ourselves, these synthetic ingredients themselves and the processes used to manufacture them hurt the environment in many different ways
What makes your products stand out in the personal care market?
The Verdana products are all built on the philosophy that Luxury Can Be Green and Green Can Be Luxury. We make no compromise on the final quality, performance, and luxuriousness of the products just because they are natural and organic. And, the Ecocert requirements ensure that every component like the containers, pumps, etc., are fully recyclable and have been made using environmentally responsible processes. We strongly believe that our customers will recognize this and support us.
