Universal Services Named Top Workplace

Universal Services of America–including its Universal Building Maintenance Division, which specializes in green cleaning services–has been named a National Top Workplace. Universal Services, founded in 1965, is headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif.

The National Top Workplaces list is based on employee feedback from more than 4,000 organizations, each with more than 1,000 employees. Universal was the only security and janitorial company to receive top billing from the more than 500,000 employees surveyed.

ANNUAL LIST

The Top Workplaces list is published annually by WorkplaceDynamics of Exton, Pa., which describes itself as “experts in organizational health.” The company’s workplace research indicates that businesses voted as Top Workplaces are outperforming their peers financially as well as in terms of employee satisfaction. According to WorkplaceDynamics CEO Doug Claffey, “Put simply, the most successful companies appear to be the ones that employees believe in.”

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Retaining talent remains a challenge for employers, says Steve Jones, Co-CEO and COO of Universal Services of America. “Regardless of the current economic conditions, the battle to attract and retain talent is the biggest challenge we face. To be considered as a top place to work by our employees is the biggest honor we can receive. Additionally, to be ranked in the top 30 out of 4,000 organizations surveyed nationally is proof that we are living our mission statement, and creating and cultivating partnerships with our employees.”
